⋆ Otherkin, a social software: The Listening Chroniclespresented by OMSK Social Club, streamed at CTM Festival - Transformation
The Listening
Chronicles, a
role-played experimental audio-transcribed performance that took place through the lens of a fictional
narrative centered around the idea of Otherkin and the notion of
companion species – human beings entangled with other animals, organisms, landscapes, and technologies.
Under the alias of ögalOS 4.6.11 - an artist
duo composed by Sara Fumaça and Everett Williams - together, we reimagined new possibilities for collective being in shared spaces.
For the listening session, we recorded a transmission to amplify the
electricity flowing through the fungi, so that the otherkin could listen
in to the full decrypted message. As it played, we softly linked the
otherkin with yarn, so they could have a more tactile experience of a
network and encourage them to send signals to each other.
The project sought to explore the complex entanglements of physiological responses to frequencies, collective body movement, and the psychological effects of narratives, role-playing, and Othering.
